Daily limit: setting a daily loss limit

A daily limit is a simple rule with a big effect: once a set limit is reached, no new trades are added that day. It protects you from decisions made on impulse.

What a daily limit is for

After several losses in a row, the urge to win it back quickly grows. A limit set in advance takes that decision out of the moment. Some traders also set a profit limit so they stop after a good day.

How to set the limit

  • As a percentage of your balance or as a fixed amount
  • In relation to your risk per trade, for example a multiple of it
  • Write it down and don't change it while trading
  • With prop firms, also follow their own daily rules

With EasyFX

In EasyFX you set a daily profit and loss limit for your account. Once one of them is reached, no new trades are taken. If you choose, EasyFX then closes all open trades or moves their stop to breakeven. You can see the daily status at any time in the bot and in your customer account.

Frequently asked questions

Do open trades count towards the daily limit?

What counts is the result of your positions on that day. EasyFX shows exactly which values are included in the daily status.

Does the daily limit replace a stop-loss?

No. Every trade still needs its own stop-loss; the daily limit is an additional brake.
